1337 Ventures, Malaysia’s pioneering venture capital firm, has announced its latest investment in Hata, a licensed digital asset exchange (DAX) designed to simplify cryptocurrency trading for individuals and institutions. The investment, made through the firm’s 1337 Capital 1, reflects 1337 Ventures’ commitment to supporting early-stage startups with high-growth potential.

Hata simplifies cryptocurrency trading with fiat currencies like the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and US Dollar (USD) on a secure, user-friendly platform. As Malaysia’s only dual-licensed digital asset exchange, regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and the Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA), Hata offers trusted and compliant services for both local and global investors.

1337 Ventures’ CEO and Founding Partner, Bikesh Lakhmichand, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “Southeast Asia is emerging as a critical player in cryptocurrency adoption. Hata’s user-centric platform and regulatory focus make it a standout solution in this space. We’re excited to support their mission to simplify crypto access and foster trust in the market.”

With the recent funding from 1337 Ventures, Hata plans to expand into new products and accelerate user acquisition across Asia. The funds will also be allocated to further develop its innovative features and scale operations to meet growing demand in the region.

Hata, co-founded by David Low is the first Malaysian DAX to integrate digital broker capabilities. This feature allows users to access liquidity from other exchanges, ensuring better pricing and an enhanced trading experience.

According to Low, “Hata’s goal is to bridge the gap between traditional finance and digital assets. With 1337 Ventures’ backing, we are well-positioned to grow and help more users confidently enter the cryptocurrency market. This funding will allow us to accelerate our growth, develop innovative features, and solidify our position as a trusted platform in the region.”

Since its inception in 2012, 1337 Ventures has supported over 3,500 startups across Southeast Asia. Through 1337 Capital 1, the firm continues to invest in innovative solutions while providing strategic guidance and access to valuable networks. As part of its continued dedication to fostering innovative founders, 1337 Ventures is actively seeking startups to support through the 1337 Capital 1.
