1337 Ventures, Malaysia’s early-stage venture capital firm, has announced its pre-seed investment into Nebula, a game-changing cloud gaming platform based in Sarawak, Borneo.

Nebula, founded by software developer and CEO Daryl Wong, aims to revolutionize the gaming industry by making high-quality gaming accessible to all, regardless of upfront costs or device limitations. This investment is part of 1337 Capital 1, targeting early-stage startups in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Nebula is addressing a key problem in Southeast Asia’s gaming market: over 50% of the population is excluded from gaming due to the high cost of gaming devices and software. While mobile gaming dominates the region, it often lacks the depth and variety of PC or console gaming experiences. Current cloud gaming platforms have also fallen short, with expensive subscriptions, limited game options, and games sold separately.

Nebula solves these issues by creating a unique cloud gaming platform powered by gamers themselves. Players can access a vast array of pre-installed games from existing gamers’ PCs, allowing them to play any game from any device starting at RM7.99. Nebula’s model provides players with affordable access to every game in the world, eliminating the need for expensive hardware or individual game purchases.

“We’re excited to back Nebula, a truly innovative startup that understands the gaming market in Southeast Asia and is determined to bring high-quality gaming to everyone,” said Bikesh Lakhmichand, CEO and Founding Partner at 1337 Ventures.

“Nebula’s solution is disruptive and game-changing, providing a cloud-based platform that not only meets the demands of the market but empowers gamers with affordable and accessible options. At 1337 Ventures, we’re passionate about supporting visionary entrepreneurs like Daryl, and we look forward to helping Nebula grow from Borneo to the world.”

Nebula’s Daryl Wong, Founder and CEO, also shared his excitement for the partnership: “Our mission at Nebula is to democratize gaming for all. Over half of Southeast Asia is locked out of gaming because of high upfront costs, and we wanted to solve that. Thanks to 1337 Ventures, we now have the resources and support to scale our platform and reach more players across the region and beyond.”

The investment into Nebula is part of 1337 Capital 1 supported by seasoned industry professionals, including Suresh Thiru, the former COO of JobStreet, as well as successful entrepreneurs who have reached significant milestones in their respective fields.

Nebula’s innovative platform aligns with the fund’s mandate to back high-potential startups with scalable solutions.
