Community Development Intern

Building the Malaysian Startup Ecosystem to greater heights.

Responsibilities

As a Community Development Intern, you play a role in being the enabler to support the Malaysian startup ecosystem to greater heights. In this role, you will work very closely with the Associate to research and identify existing, up and coming startups to be showcased in our company startup portal, Muru-ku. Not only that, you will also play an important role to assist the Associate to strategise and plan initiatives to engage and support the Malaysian startup community. Your responsibilities are as follows:

  • Work collaboratively with the Associate and team to plan and execute engagement initiatives with the startup community
  • Research and identify startups to be listed on the Company startup portal, Muru-ku to keep the startup list up to date
  • Research and keep up to date with existing grants provided by local agencies to be updated in Muru-ku to ensure funding opportunities are always up-to-date for the startup community
  • Research and identify existing Venture Capitalists in the region to be listed in Muru-ku.
  • Facilitate engagement initiatives and managing stakeholders (i.e. startups, partners and agencies) effectively
  • Benchmarking and proposing best practices for 1337 Ventures to improve on our value adding initiatives for the startup ecosystem

Requirements

The ideal candidate experience & skills needed:

  • If you are passionate towards the startup ecosystem, you are who we are looking for.
  • Possess ability to interact and communicate effectively verbally and in written correspondence.
  • Decent understanding of websites, digital video/audio platforms & social media platforms including, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Clubhouse & podcasts.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, as well as a valuable member of a team.
  • Process oriented and attentive to detail.
  • Passionate & willing to learn.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Computer literate, proficient in google docs & google drive.

  • Working Time: Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm
